Prose Poem:

I heard tell of the killer man. He was dressed in black they said. He was dangerous, this man. I didn't care for the stories. I went out on my way. I was to get to Montana in two days. I could waste no time. Along the highway I walked. Day in. Day out. Following the winding road. Exhausted, I stopped for a while to rest. The truck looked familiar. I noted the cross bones on the bumper. Where have I seen this before. The truck pulled over. The man got out. It hit me then, this was the killer man. Need I say more.

Blog 20: experimental poetry

When our two souls stand up erect and strong, by: Elizabeth Barrett Browning

When our two souls stand up erect and strong.
Face to face, silent, drawing nigh and nigher,
Until the lengthening wings break into fire
At either curved point, --what bitter wrong
Can the earth do to us, that we should not long
Be here contented? Think! In mounting higher,
The angels would press on us and aspire
To drop some golden orb of perfect song
Into our deep, dear silence. Let us stay
Rather on earth, Beloved, --where the unfit
Contrarious moods of men recoil away
And isolate pure spirits, and permit
A place to stand and love in for a day,
With darkness and the death-hour rounding it.

Removing words:

When our souls up and strong.
Face to face, drawing,
Until the break into fire
At either point, -- wrong
Can the us, that we should not long
Be contented? Think!  higher,
The would press on us and
To drop some  of perfect
Into our deep, . Let us stay
Rather on, --where the unfit
 moods of recoil away
And isolate spirits, and
A place to and love for a ,
With darkness and the rounding it.

New version:

When our souls are built up in love and strong.
Face to face, we stand, drawing higher
Until the love breaks into a glorious fire
At either point, no one did the other wrong
Can this be us, that we should not long
Be far from contented? Think!  higher,
The world would press on us and be loud
To drop some of its perfect knowledge
Into our deep love, But please let us stay
Rather let us love on, to where the unfit
Moods of those people finally recoil away
And they won't isolate spirits, and remove
A place to belong and love for a while,
Without the darkness and pain rounding it.
